Tubular Contact

This component is available for elastic contact surface description only. It enables tubular contact at an elastic contact surface contact point.

1. Parameters

  • Radius: Contact radius

  • Direction: Contact direction — INWARDS or OUTWARDS

  • Relative damping level: Desired relative damping level at estimated eigen period (radial direction only, not used in static analysis)

  • Damping coefficient: Dashpot damping coefficient (radial direction only)

  • Stiffness: Spring stiffness for static friction in ring and axial directions (not used in static analysis)

  • Static friction: Static friction coefficient (not used in static analysis)

  • Dynamic friction: Dynamic sliding friction coefficient

  • Sliding friction: Axial sliding friction — ON or OFF

  • Rotation friction: Friction due to rotation — ON or OFF (requires Sliding friction = ON)

  • Velocity limit: Velocity limit for determining that sliding has stopped (not used in static analysis)

Spring stiffness characteristics for the radial contact force can be defined by either of the following options:

  • Constant contact compression stiffness

  • Table with N pairs of contact force vs. displacement

If the table option is selected, the contact stiffness is determined from the specified table. Add a table with pressure force and corresponding spring compression values.
